Getting the most from your Sharehub listing
27 January 2025

In this blog we simply wanted to share some tips and tricks to help you get the most out of your Sharehub listings.

1. Clear, High-Quality Photos:

Ensure photos are well-lit, clear, and showcase the product from different angles. If possible, a clean background and natural light can significantly improve the appeal of your listing.

Taking close-up shots of key features (e.g., lenses, charge ports, unique features, or materials) are useful.

2. Social Media Sharing:

Share your listing on social media to increase visibility. Its easy to do on Sharehub. Simply click on the item you want to share, then click on the button above the photo that looks like this  then copy the link and post it to your socials AND community groups you are part of. Sharing it to groups outside of your friend circle will dramatically increase your traffic.

Encourage friends or followers to share the listing, which can boost traffic to your items.

3. Detailed Descriptions:

Include specific details such as size, condition, and any unique features. Be as informative as possible to reduce inquiries and improve trust.

Highlight any extras included with the item, like charging cables or extra attachments etc.

Highlight is your listing comes with added security like Sharehubs owner guarantee, insurance or security bond

4. Upload a Real Profile Photo:

Upload a clear, real photo of yourself to your profile. This helps the community see you as a real person and builds trust, making it more likely that potential renters will engage with your listing.

Listings with real profile photos receive approximatley 60% more rental inquiries than those without, making it a valuable addition to your profile.

5. Add “optional extras” like:

Offer Pick-Up and Drop-Off Services:

If you’re willing to offer pick-up or drop-off services, mention it clearly in the listing, and specify any additional fees based on distance or time (you can add this directly into your “optional extras” tab when listing an item, or by modifying your existing listing.

Indicate the areas where you can offer this service, or communicate with the renter if you will allow different pick up or drop off locations for more flexibility.

Postage Options:

If shipping is an optional extra for your item, include postage costs, delivery times, and mention whether the item will be insured during transit (This info can be obtained on NZ posts website at https://www.nzpost.co.nz/tools/rate-finder or through another courier service).

Operator Availability for Equipment Rentals:

For larger equipment (e.g., excavators), offering an operator as an optional extra can make your listing more attractive. Specify if you are certified or have a trained operator available.

Clearly indicate any additional fees for this service when adding the optional extra, and mention the operator's qualifications or experience in the description.

6. Competitive Pricing:

Research similar items for sale or rent to ensure your pricing is competitive. Offering a reasonable price can help your listing stand out. We are happy to provide guidance if you need!

7.  Prompt Communication:

Respond to inquiries quickly. Fast communication builds credibility and may increase your rental success rate. FYI we will be adding a feature to enable notification to be sent to your phone to help make sure you can respond quickly.

8. Flexibility:

Where possible, and within reason, be flexible with things like pick up and drop off times to make your item more accessible to renters and potentially increase bookings. Being flexible will generally result in a better review, which assists gaining more bookings.

9. Trust Building:

Have and leave positive and honest reviews to help build trust within the community. Users are likely to rent from people with good reviews, and owners are more likely to accept bookings from renters with good reviews. Strive to make your intereactions with your renters a good experience.

10. Add-Ons for Rentals:

Consider offering additional accessories or add-ons that complement your item (e.g., charging cables, protective covers, safety gloves etc) to increase the appeal of the item.
